Connector

Also called connectors, integration.

A connector is a link that lets an AI tool reach another app, such as your email, files, calendar or customer records, to read things and sometimes change them. Many connectors use a common standard called MCP (Model Context Protocol). What a connector can do depends on the permissions it’s given.

Think of it as

A key to one filing cabinet, or to the whole building.

Why it matters at work

Connectors are how AI starts saving time across systems, and how it can reach information it shouldn’t. Connect only what the task needs, with your organisation’s approval.
